  • Typical job tasks at an entry level include reviewing log and event files, monitoring computer and network security events, assigning or reviewing security access, writing security policies and procedures, reviewing configurations of servers, networks, and applications, and writing reports.

Overview

  • Network administrators are critical to nearly every organization as they install, support and manage computer networks.  They work with hardware and software, troubleshoot network issues, and ensure and maximize network performance.

  • Through the development and management of computer systems, network and computer systems administrators essentially maintain an organization’s workflow, and keep the lines of communication open.

  • Network administrators also set up new servers, train new users on software and hardware, and manage telecommunication networks that enable employees to work remotely.
