Perkins Act Grant Supports IT Certification Testing at North Central Texas College

Ask any tech hiring manager and they’ll tell you the difference industry certifications can make for applicants being considered for an IT position.  CompTIA, Cisco and Microsoft certifications are among the most coveted.  Ask any tech college student and they’ll tell you the cost of certification testing is a deterrent.

Fortunately, IT students at North Central Texas College (NCTC) don’t need to worry about the cost of certification testing, which can be nearly $300 per exam.  Through Perkins Act funding, which is a U.S. Department of Education administered grant program that supports career and technical education, NCTC offers vouchers.  NCTC’s IT courses are designed to align with industry certifications and prepare students for the exams covered by the vouchers.  With the barrier of cost removed, many students have taken advantage of this opportunity.  The vouchers are also a great incentive for students to validate their skills and increase their career options with certifications.  Here’s what you need to know to take advantage of this opportunity.
